Barbie turns 57: See how her face has changed over the years

On March 9, Barbie celebrates her 57th birthday – and she sure has changed a lot since 1959.

Over the past five decades, the iconic doll has frequently been updated to reflect society’s ideals. That got Tumblr user Tenaflyviper thinking about how Barbie’s face has changed over the years – and she rounded up a headshot of the doll from every year to show just how different she looks now.

“I was curious as to exactly how Barbie’s face has changed across the 56-year span she’s been around,” she recently wrote.

“Personally, I think the molds they used from 1987-1995 are the cutest, but I was still a little girl playing with Barbies at that time, so I may be a bit biased.”
