What’s on your ballot: Issues impacting schools

UPPER PENINSULA, Mich. (WJMN) – On May 7th there are three school districts in the Upper Peninsula that has issues on the ballot.

  • Ironwood Area Schools Operating Millage Renewal: The millage rate of 18 mills, or $18 per every taxable valuation. If approved, it will be for a period of four years.

  • Munising Public Schools Sinking Fund Millage Proposal: This is a 10-year proposal to fund school safety, security improvements, and complete repairs and upgrades to school facilities. This would cost voters about $9.38 a month.

  • Rudyard Area Schools Bond Proposal: If passed this would include building, furnishing and equipping the school building with upgrades to security and technology.

Polls will open from 7am – 8pm local time. You have the right to vote if you are in the line by 8pm.
