When will Bakersfield swimming pools open?

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Summer officially starts June 20, but temperatures have already started to spike in Kern County.

In a social media post, the City of Bakersfield announced the opening dates for its four swimming pools located around town.

All pools are set to open on Tuesday, June 4. According to city officials, all pools will be closed on July 20. Kids 48 inches and shorter are required to swim one-on-one with adult supervision.

City pool opening dates:

  • McMurtrey Aquatic Center, 1325 Q St.
    June 4 – Aug. 11.
    Monday – Thursday, 1 to 3:30 p.m.
    Sat. & Sun., 1 to 5 p.m.
    $4 per person or $13 for a group of four. Kids 2-and-under are free.

  • Silver Creek Pool, 7011 Harris Road.
    June 4 – Aug. 9
    Tuesday – Friday, 1-3:30 p.m.
    Saturday & Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m.
    $1 per person. Kids 2-and-under are free.

  • Jefferson Pool, 801 Bernard St.
    June 4 – Aug. 9
    Tuesday – Friday, 1 to 3:30 p.m.
    Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m.
    $1 per person. Kids 2 and under are free.

  • Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. pool, 1000 S. Owens St.
    June 4 – Aug. 9
    Tuesday – Friday, 1 to 3:30 p.m.
    Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m.
    $1 per person. Kids 2 and under are free.
