IT’S BACK: Columbus Youth Advisory Council returns

Columbus YAC is sponsored by the Columbus Consolidated Govt. and the Muscogee County School District.

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) – The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is finally returning after a long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Columbus YAC started in 1999 with 84 youth members and since its creation, nearly 1,700 students have graduated from the program. The city says the goal of the YAC is to extend the scope of youth leadership within the city through volunteering and initiatives directed toward enabling youth input on policy issues, identifying youth issues, and participating in implementing solutions.

For those interested, Columbus Consolidated Government provided the following application requirements:

  • Columbus resident

  • The deadline to apply is June 15.

  • Applications can be picked up in your school’s guidance counselor’s office or students may go to the Columbus YAC’s website to obtain an application.
