AVANCE celebrates 50 years in El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A non-profit organization dedicated to helping Latino communities nationwide is celebrating its 50 years in El Paso.

AVANCE is a national non-profit organization that focuses on early childhood and parenting education in Latino communities across Texas, California, and New Mexico, according to the news release by the organization.

The 50th anniversary event will take place on Wednesday, May 8 at the El Paso Community Foundation.

“Our 50-year journey has held countless successes for our organization and the families we serve, and AVANCE’s heart beats with their vibrant stories. As we look ahead, our commitment to the El Paso community is as strong as ever, and we look forward to the next 50 years of working with the families and community of El Paso. Juntos es mejor,” said AVANCE Chief Executive Officer Dr. Teresa Granillo.

Founded in 1973, AVANCE has provided various programs to the Borderland such as Parent-Child Education, Quality Child Care Matters, and programs creating opportunities for higher education.

AVANCE has also partnered with El Paso Community College to offer a new program, “AVANCE to College,” that creates pathways for caregivers to greater parenting and economic knowledge, according to AVANCE.
