Autism acceptance: Party Under the Stars

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) -Throughout Autism Acceptance Month, WAVY 10 has shared many ways a non-profit in Virginia Beach supports the community.

From offering paying jobs to those diagnosed with autism to a number of summer camps, Families of Autism Coming Together (FACT) is always looking towards inclusion and acceptance. FACT is a non-profit, relying on grants and donations to help keep its doors open.

Coming up in May, FACT will hold its biggest fundraiser of the year, called Party Under the Stars. Organizers say you can expect great food, dancing, live and silent auctions and much more.

It’s all to fund programs that are greatly impacting local lives.

“Everybody knows somebody (with Autism). So, that’s pretty darn exciting to see our impact spread out and to see people get excited about us. The community has been fantastic to us,” said Sharon Slipow, FACT Board President.
