Attention, Parents: This Crib Promises To Help Your Baby Sleep

From ELLE DECOR

New parents: Remember the days when you could sleep throughout the night without being woken once? Remember when you and your bed weren't in a long distance relationship? Remember when you knew what color your pillow covers were?

No? Nothing's ringing a bell?

A new $1,160 crib claims to be the answer to all your sleepy woes. Swiss industrial designer Yves Behar has spent the last five years working with Dr. Harvey Karp (you may know him from "The Happiest Baby on the Block") to develop a crib the resembles a womb. They call it: SNOO.

Most babies like to be swaddled, but this baby furniture takes that concept a step further. According to Curbed, the rocking crib copies the rhythms of the womb, adjusting the intensity of motion and white noise it provides to a baby's level of crying (yes, there are microphones involved).

Here's how it works: Wrap your baby in the "5-second swaddle," and place in the crib. The crib won't move until the swaddle is clipped in, which keeps the baby sleeping safely on its back all night.

The crib chooses the best motion for your baby - ranging from slow swings for sleeping and jiggles for upset babies - and provides white noise such as "soft rain" for sleeping and "womb" sounds for crying, says the company.

SNOO can be used for babies up to six months, and comes with a weaning feature for when it's time to transition to a crib.

Of course, some parents may prefer the self-soothing method. The big question is: Is it worth being woken in the night?
