Astoria recognizes historic preservation projects

Historic preservation projects in Astoria were honored during a City Council meeting on Monday night.

Mayor Sean Fitzpatrick presented the Dr. Edward Harvey Historic Preservation Award to three recipients. The annual award honors projects and property owners who have made efforts to preserve historic buildings.

Jenessa Roberti and Gene Hong won the residential category for their work restoring a single-family dwelling on 51st Street.

In the commercial category, James and Lisa Long were recognized for their restoration of the downtown building known as the Flavel Building.
