Arson arrest made in Coastside trailer fire over weekend

(BCN) — A 29-year-old Moss Beach man was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of arson after he allegedly set fire to a trailer, which spread to a vehicle and nearby building.

San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies were sent to the area of Airport Street and Yale Avenue in the unincorporated community of Princeton-by-the-Sea early Saturday morning to investigate the blaze.

With the help of Cal Fire and Coastside Fire Protection District investigators, deputies soon identified William Caneitzep as a suspect and arrested him at about 8:30 p.m., according to sheriff’s officials.

No one was hurt in the fire, but nearby residents had to be evacuated while it was being doused and the initial damage estimates have run into the tens of thousands of dollars.
