UPDATE: Armed student detained at Coleman ISD

COLEMAN, Texas (KTAB/KRBC)An armed student was taken into custody following an incident at Coleman ISD Thursday morning.

The Coleman Police Department says officers responded to a report of an armed student at Coleman High School around 8:00 a.m.

They were able to locate the student, who police say did have a handgun, which officers retrieved without incident.

“The student did not display the weapon or threaten any individuals before being taken into custody,” a press release from Coleman ISD explains.

No shots were fired during this event, no injuries have been reported, and all students are safe, according to police.

Officers did search for additional threats following the student’s arrest, but nothing was found.

Parents are now asked to pick up their children at Bill Franklin Center. Anyone picking up a child is required to bring their ID.

This incident is still under investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
