Arkansas State Police make 23 arrests on gun, drug charges

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — In just under a day and a half, the Arkansas State Police Department says they arrested 23 individuals and issued 372 citations during a joint operation in Crittenden County.

The 33-hour saturation, held May 9-10, yielded felony charges for possession of guns, drugs, DWI, and fleeing.

11 firearms were seized by the ASP, two stolen vehicles were recovered, and a variety of illegal drugs including fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, and prescription drugs were confiscated.

Reports say ASP troopers made 11 arrests for individuals Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). 29 citations were issued for speeding, 7 for seat belt violations, and 7 for child restraint violations.

The ASP says that there were five vehicle pursuits during the saturation.

Lastly, 40 hazardous citations and 201 non-hazardous citations were issued. Reports say law enforcement made 795 contacts with individuals in the 33-hour timespan.

The joint law enforcement operation was conducted by the ASP’s Patrol Division with the West Memphis Police Department, Marion Police Department, and the Cross County Sheriff’s Office aiding in the initiative.
