Executive director DuShun Scarbrough explained the importance of the giveaway as families come together to celebrate the holiday.

“As the community comes together to honor and remember those who have served our country, the Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission recognizes the importance of supporting our neighbors who are struggling with food insecurity,” Scarbrough said. “Our goal is to ensure that no family goes hungry, and events like this are crucial in providing immediate relief to those in need. The recent Memorial Day holiday highlights not only the sacrifices made by our service members and women but also the need for community solidarity and support.”
