Area news in brief for May 27

ALLIANCE CLAIMS – Alliance City Council’s Claims Committee plans a public meeting at 5:30 p.m. June 3 at the Alliance Municipal Courthouse, 470 E. Market St. in Alliance. Purpose of the meeting is to discuss a claim brought by Desirae Roberts.

ALLIANCE ZONING – Alliance City Council’s Planning, Zoning and Housing Committee plans a public meeting at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Alliance City Hall, 504 E. Main St., second-floor conference room. Purpose of the meeting is to discuss keeping farm animals.

COUNTRY DANCES – Canton Country Music plans dances from 2 to 5 p.m. June 2 and June 9 at the American Legion, 1633 Cleveland Ave. NW. The Kenny Eddy Band will play June 2; and the Jim Davidson Band will play June 9. Admission is $3 at the door, and events are open to the public. Doors open at 1:15, and food is available, along with 50-50 drawing and lottery tree. No alcohol or outside food.

SEBRING COUNCIL – Sebring Village Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Village Hall. Among items to be discussed are giving oath of office to new part-time police officer Khaled Abu-Ghannam; and discussion of police levy and recreation levies.
