ARDOT reminds drivers to prepare for traffic delays for solar eclipse

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — As the day of the solar eclipse inches closer, the Arkansas Department of Transportation wants you to be ready for traffic delays.

ARDOT says drivers should be ready as soon as today for an increase in traffic. Dave Parker, spokesperson for ARDOT says we should see a wave of traffic starting this weekend for out-of-state drivers. Another wave will happen Monday for in-state drivers.

“People who live outside the path in Arkansas want to get over to Central Arkansas. To Conway, Russellville to really be in the center of the thick of it. You are going to get that wave of traffic,” said Parker.

Parker is reminding people to be patient, have a bottle of water and make sure their phone is charged. ARDOT has a highway camera set up to track how much traffic Arkansas will see over the next few days.
