May 15—May 15, 2014 — Red Lake Nation has a new chairman, with Darrell Seki Jr. succeeding former chairman Floyd "Buck" Jourdain after winning the recent election with 1,907 votes to Jourdain's 1,284. Seki previously served as the tribe's treasurer. Jourdain had been chairman for 10 years and hopes to continue to serve the tribe in other roles.

May 15, 1999 — Members of the public took to the streets in support of their four-legged friends, participating in the 14th annual Beltrami Humane Society Walk for Animals over the weekend. The event raises funds for the humane society to help animals find loving homes with local families.

May 15, 1974 — Bemidji's Industrial Park is growing, with the groundbreaking for a new building held this week. The event marked the start of construction for a warehouse owned by Skaar Distributing Company, which distributes Blue Ribbon Pabst beer across the country. The building will be able to hold 60,000 cases of beer and 600 half barrels.

May 15, 1924 — The Ralph Gracie post of the American Legion is asking members of the public for donations to help ensure that all graves of service members are decorated for Memorial Day. Previous fundraising campaigns have been well supported, raising over $100, and it's hoped that this year's will also be noted as a success.
