Archdale man badly hurt in head-on collision

Apr. 8—HIGH POINT — An Archdale man was severely injured Sunday night when he drove his motorcycle into oncoming traffic, the N.C. State Highway Patrol said.

Daniel Joshua Welch, 30, was driving a 2023 Honda CBR 1000 motorcycle east on N.C. 62 near Coe Avenue about 7:50 p.m. when he traveled left of center and hit a 2013 Chevrolet Impala head-on, the Highway Patrol said.

Welch was taken to Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro. No information about his injuries was released except that they were severe.

The Impala's driver, Kelley Dianna Dowd, 40, of Asheboro, was not injured.

Speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the wreck, the Highway Patrol said.
