On April 1, 7-Eleven says it will launch a hot dog-flavored sparkling water

Is it real or just an April Fools' prank?

Convenience store chain 7-Eleven this week announced a new line of flavored sparkling waters: lemon-lime, green apple, sweet orange and ... hot dog.

That has to be a joke, right?

The first three flavors are in stores as of this week, the company promised more details on Big Bite Hot Dog water on April 1, which only adds to the idea this is a prank.

Wording in the press release does not clear up anything:

"Gone are the days of alternating bites of a hot dog with sips of a beverage, now those on the go can swap the bun for bubbles," the convenience retailer chain said in a release.

“For a good second, I thought this was a parody… if 7-Eleven releases this, they might as well release mustard and ketchup energy drinks..” one person commented on Instagram

It appears that – if this is real – there are going to be ketchup and mustard flavor notes in the beverage the company said will push "the boundaries of flavor innovation."

The company said the beverage, which will come in a 16-ounce can, is part of a collaboration between 7-Eleven and Miracle Seltzer, a carbonated water brand.

Either way, we will find out very soon whether our days of chewing hot dogs will soon be over.
