Appeal-Democrat to transition to same-day mail delivery

Mar. 6—As readership trends continue to evolve and costs continue to rise, the Appeal-Democrat will be making the transition to same-day mail delivery for its daily newspaper on March 15.

This change will only affect subscribers as single copy deliveries to newsstands will continue as usual.

While the Appeal-Democrat remains committed to the printed newspaper, due to changes in how the public consumes the news and the tremendous cost of delivering the paper, subscribers will now receive the Appeal via same-day U.S. Postal Service mail. Those who already receive the paper through the mail, but may not get it on the same day, will be included in that same-day delivery.

We understand how much our readers appreciate getting their paper in the morning, as has been the tradition for the majority of papers across the country for decades, but moving forward subscribers will be receiving their paper with their mail starting March 15.

Our readership numbers are still strong, especially online and on other platforms. This change will only affect how the physical copy of the paper is delivered.

All print subscribers will continue to receive full access to the Appeal-Democrat website as well as the electronic version of the paper.

If you are a subscriber and do not have full access to the paper online, then you will need to make sure you create a website account using the email listed on your subscription to receive that access. Subscribers can call 530-749-6545 with any questions regarding their website account, or subscription in general.

We hope through cost-saving measures, that we will be able to continue to provide the needed information this community deserves.
