Apartment plans up for review: 210-unit complex would be located on Kettleman Lane west of Walmart

May 7—The Lodi Site Plan and Architectural Review Committee will get a look at another multi-unit housing project proposed for the Gateway area on Wednesday.

NJA Architecture has proposed a three-story market-rate apartment complex consisting of 210 units at 2925 Gala Drive.

In addition to the apartments, the project proposed a clubhouse with swimming pool and spa, as well as a courtyard, on-site parking and pedestrian walkways.

Eight apartment buildings will be located toward the site's perimeter and consist of 42 studio apartments, 72 units with one bedroom and one bathroom, and 84 with two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

There will also be 12 units featuring three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, according to Wednesday's staff report.

The clubhouse and pool will be located on the southeastern portion of the 8.6-acre site, and will also feature a meeting room and leasing office.

There will be three driveways along Gala Drive, one of which will provide gated entrance into the complex, and the others will be exits.

A total of 359 covered and uncovered parking spaces will be provided throughout the site, of which 317 will be for residents.

Located west of the Walmart Supercenter, the site is bordered by Kettleman Lane to the north, the Lodi city limits and a vineyard to the west, Westgate Drive to the east and residential development, as well as Bob Johnson Park, to the south.

This is the second multi-housing project proposed for the site over the last few years. In 2021, SPARC considered approving a 224-unit apartment complex on the site consisting of two buildings, one of which was three stories and the other was four stories, proposed by JBT Property Management.

Floor plans included 90 one-bedroom, one-bathroom dwellings; 120 two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments; and 14 three-bedroom, two-bathroom units.

A jogging trail was also proposed, along with the clubhouse and swimming pool. The former project also proposed 403 parking spaces, of which 21 were to be solar carports.

Wednesday's meeting begins at 5:15 p.m. at Carnegie Forum, 315 W. Pine St. The meeting will also be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/CityofLodi.
