Anthony Weiner's Maybe Mayoral Run Now Has a Cute Baby Photo

Just what the "Will he or won't he?" story about the political comeback of Anthony Weiner needs:  a warm and fuzzy interview with People, complete with cute baby, and an non-denial denial about planning a 2013 run for New York City mayor. Weiner's words may say he's not running for office ("I can’t say absolutely that I will never run for public office again, but I’m very happy in my present life. I’m not doing anything to plan a campaign") but the image of a happy family plus supportive statements from his wife, Huma Abedin, ("I'm proud to be married to him") plus touching details (Weiner "does all the laundry" at home) add up to an obvious attempt at image rehabilitation.

Earlier this week, the New York Post reported Weiner's wife Abedin, who is deputy chief of staff to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, was pushing Anthony do a softball tell-all interview to clear the air and work on figuring out a way to put the his $4.5 million political war chest to work running for office. And well, this People interview certainly fits the bill.

"I’ve had enormous regrets about what I put Huma through, how I let my constituents down," Weiner says. He adds, "But it’s not like I sit all day replaying it in my mind. With a baby, it’s pretty easy to put things into perspective." In addition to being proud of being married to the former congressman who blew up his political career by sharing pictures of his penis with random women on Twitter, Abedin says, "Anthony has spent every day since [the scandal] trying to be the best dad and husband he can be."  A great laundry-doing dad, husband, whose six-month old baby (damn that baby is cute) is the biggest thing in his life?  Doesn't that sound like the kind of mayor you'd want?
