Annual Waste-to-Energy Facility open house is Saturday

Apr. 24—ROCHESTER — Olmsted County's Waste-to-Energy Facility is hosting its annual open house on Saturday.

Family-friendly tours will be offered between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on April 27, 2024, showing how the county uses the community's garbage to create energy.

While on the tour, residents will also learn about Olmsted County's Integrated Solid Waste Management System which includes:

* Waste reduction education

* Recycling Center Plus

* Hazardous waste facility

* Yard waste compost site

* Waste-to-Energy facility

* Kalmar landfill

Additionally, residents are invited to bring old cell phones for recycling at no charge. The OWEF is located down the street from the Recycling Center Plus at 301 Energy Parkway NE, Rochester.
