Annual live fire training today at Capital Region International Airport

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– The Capital Region International Airport Public Safety Department will do a live fire training today at 11 a.m.

Officials with the airport say the safety training happens yearly and want people to be aware that this is just a safety drill.

The simulation will include an aircraft burn simulator, which will prompt crews to extinguish live fires in a few different ways. Officials say the training will generate a lot of smoke because the propane is burned.

Lansing Fire Department, DeWitt Township Fire, and Mason Fire Department will also be participating in the event.
