American Canyon High School teacher arrested twice in 1 week

(KRON) — An American Canyon High School teacher was arrested twice in one week and accused of child sex crimes. Brad Matthew Rowell, 41, was arrested again on Friday morning after investigators found new evidence that he allegedly committed unlawful sex and lewd acts with a minor, according to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office.

Rowell was arrested at his home in Sonoma when deputies served a no bail warrant. Rowell is a physical education teacher at ACHS and is currently on administrative leave, the Napa Valley Unified School District said.

The P.E. teacher was first arrested at American Canyon High School on Tuesday for multiple felonies, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office said. One student recorded cellphone video of the teacher being handcuffed and escorted by deputies away from the school.

He was booked into jail Tuesday on charges of inappropriate contact with a minor, sexual exploitation of a child, and possession of matter depicting a minor.

Rowell bailed out of jail after his first arrest. On Friday, he was re-booked into jail on new charges.

The Napa County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with more information about the teacher to call Detective Shamus Stafford at 707-253-4591.

School district officials told KRON4, “The Napa Valley Unified School District takes the safety and care of our students and staff very seriously. The teacher was immediately placed on administrative leave. We continue to work with our law enforcement partners and will continue to keep you informed as appropriate. The safety of our students remains our top priority.”
