American Airlines bus service connecting ILG to PHL to start up this fall

Beginning this fall, passengers can avoid the Philadelphia Airport rush by starting their journeys at the Wilmington Airport and taking a coach bus to their connecting flights.

On Thursday, May 16, the Delaware River & Bay Authority announced that American Airlines and its partnership with the Landline Co. will be launching a coach bus service connecting ILG to PHL. The service will begin on Oct. 7 of this year.

With the new travel route, customers will be able to park, check their bags and go through security at the Wilmington Airport before boarding a motorcoach to flights departing out of Philadelphia. The bus will begin running six times per day, to and from Philadelphia, connecting to the over 100 American Airlines flights in Philadelphia, both nationally and internationally.

The buses will seat 35 people and offer free WiFi and in-seat power at each seat. American Airlines customers can also receive AAdvantage miles using the landline service.

To book the service, customers can go through American Airlines' website or mobile app and enter ILG as the origin and select the proper destination as the endpoint.

“The Wilmington Airport offers a refreshingly fast, smooth and simple hometown airport feel, complete with affordable parking and a superior customer experience. If you’re looking for quality service without the big city airport hassles associated with parking, check-in, or security screening, the American Airlines Landline connection service at ILG is for you!”

Wilmington's Airport recently received $5.6 million in federal infrastructure funding to expand its terminal, which will add 6,000 square feet to the boarding area and upgrade facilities throughout the airport's singular terminal. Construction is already underway on demolishing the adjacent Skyways Hotel, which will be used to increase parking capacity for the airport.
