Amazon Is Rolling Out Same-Day Delivery for the Holidays
Gift procrastinators and holiday shopping mall haters, rejoice! Santa’s favorite helper (a.k.a. Amazon) just announced that it will now offer free same-day delivery until 11:59 p.m. on Christmas Eve for Prime members. Don’t worry: You don’t have to shell out the $99 annual fee for Prime.
If you sign up for a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime, you’ll get two-day or same-day shipping on millions of Prime-eligible items as well as Prime Now—a two-hour household and grocery item delivery service—for free. If you’re an existing Prime member who lives in one of 30 metropolitan cities, you can even get thousands of items delivered to your door in an hour or less (seriously.)
This is amazing for several reasons: First, you get unlimited deliveries with no minimum order size (perfect for when you have a holiday party and need to bring one or two gifts but don’t want to hit the mall.) You also get first dibs on hard-to-get pre-order items and free release-date delivery on eligible books, games, and movies (think: that impossible-to-find video game your teen really wants.)
The best part? Amazon created a shipping cheat sheet so you don’t have to guess when your holiday goodies will arrive. All you have to do now is order a bottle of wine and get to shopping.
