Amazon driver leaves deep tire marks near Grand Island woman’s home

GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) – When a local woman was having problems getting a hold of one of the world’s largest retailers for damage near her home, she contacted Call 4 Action.

This was after an Amazon truck driver left tire marks by her driveway and she wants to hold the driver accountable.

The deep ruts were left behind from tire marks of an Amazon truck. It was during the afternoon of Jan. 31. Adriene, who doesn’t want to give out her last name, says she noticed the damage coming home from work.

“I was shocked to see the damage and then thank God for cameras that we have set up on our property I was able to check the cameras,” Adriene said.

A trail camera captured an image of the back half of an Amazon truck with its muddy wheels and the sliding door appearing to be open.

“There are packages that could’ve fallen out, I don’t know what they were doing here first of all,” Adriene said.

She adds that the damage was left behind with no note or explanation and then contacted Amazon.

“I requested somebody call me multiple times, I requested somebody an address so I can send the photographs snail mail and my requests were ignored and then I decided to call [News 4],” Adriene said. She also says she went to Amazon’s delivery station on River Road.

News 4 contacted Amazon and got a response within a few days saying the company was reviewing the incident.

In a statement, Amazon says: “We thank Buffalo News 4 for bringing this issue to our attention. We were able to get in touch with the customer and worked directly with her to make things right.”

Over a year ago, Amazon announced a $200 million investment in new safety technology. Amazon delivery trucks have cameras inside to monitor driver activity. Delivery vans also have a 360-degree camera detection system so drivers can see exactly what’s next to them as they back up and turn.

More Calls 4 Action

Amazon says the company has since suspended the driver and Adriene was given a credit for the damage.

“This has been settled all thanks to you and I thank you for that,” Adriene said, “If there is anybody out there who is trying to get an issue resolved contact Jeff Preval News 4 Call for Action.”
