Altoona Public Library Board meets to talk new director

ALTOONA, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The Altoona Public Library could soon be getting a new director. The library board met earlier this afternoon (5/23/24) at city hall to discuss their top picks for the position. This all comes as the former library director is charged with repeated sexual assault of a child in Buffalo County. The Library Board previously said he had not been working there since before the arrest in March.

It took some special sessions and interviews, but the Library Board President, Susan Rowe, says it now comes down to a contract signing, “The next step would be to contact our top choice. Discuss and negotiate salary package and any benefits that might be different than what we would typically offer.”

It’s not clear how many top candidates were considered. When the new library director is hired and announced we will let you know.
