NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A known street racer was recently taken into custody after Metro Nashville police said he performed “dangerous stunts” at multiple locations and then led them on a high-speed chase.

Stephen Burns III, 25, of Hermitage, was arrested on multiple charges Friday, April 26, related to an alleged street takeover gathering that took place the weekend before, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD).

Investigators with the MNPD Traffic Division said Burns was seen carrying out multiple stunts in South Nashville and Madison. He reportedly reached speeds between 120 and 130 miles per hour on I-40 while trying to get away from police after the April 20 gathering.

The charges against him include two counts of felony reckless endangerment, rioting, and evading arrest. Police said he was taken into custody outside his Hermitage Park Drive home but is now free on a $22,000 bond.

Burns had reportedly been under investigation for months due to his “strong connection” to street racing. His driving history shows that he has completed traffic school four times since 2017 and has three speeding violations.
