Alison Hammond responds to engagement ring rumours

This Morning's Alison Hammond has responded to rumours that she is engaged following speculation over a ring she has been wearing.

On today's (May 17) instalment of the ITV show, Alison was asked by co-host Dermot O'Leary and showbiz reporter Will Best during the showbiz news round-up section about the ring she was sporting on her wedding ring finger, and the gossip that has started to pop up surrounding it.

"You've been wearing it on the wrong finger," Dermot pointed out, and she changed it to the other hand.

Alison explained that it was just a nice ring that she saw and liked, stating: "It's just some cheap ring that I got from, probably Primark, one of those cheap rings. It's nice, isn't it?

"Let me swap it over, because we don't want those rumours going out there, do you know what I mean? Not just yet. Maybe one day, who knows."

Alison recently revealed that she is currently dating someone, but admitted that it can be harder for her now that her son Aiden is 19 years old, and unafraid of sharing his opinion on potential partners.

She said: "I think it's more difficult now, because he is more verbal now that he is older. He'll want to know who this person is and he'll want to meet them. It's a lot harder, because he'll want to know that this guy is treating me well."

Meanwhile, Dermot was announced for a five-part ITV series just this week. The show will feature him travelling across Ireland to find its best food.
