Albuquerque man sentenced after fight with BCSO deputy

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Andrew Marler, caught on camera fighting a Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Deputy, was sentenced to three years behind bars Tuesday.

Marler was resisting arrest while a sheriff’s deputy tried to handcuff him. During the altercation, both fell 15 feet into an irrigation ditch. A few days later, he stole from a man near 1st. and Indian School, threw rocks at the victim, and chased him. Marler took a plea deal in February, as part of the plea deal, the charges against him for stealing and throwing rocks were dropped.

Judge Bruce Fox sentenced Marler to three years behind bars, followed by two and a half years probation.
