Albany Rotary Club awards four scholarships

ALBANY — The Albany Rotary Club has announced the awarding of four student scholarships for $2,000 each.

Candence McClung from Lee County High School will be attending Harris College. Her aspiration is to become a large-animal veterinarian. She has received numerous awards in academic and citizenship. She also participated in sports, Lee County FFA, National Honor Society and National Beta Club.

David Mullins is graduating from Deerfield-Windsor and plans to attend the University of Georgia. He will major in political science and said he plans to attend law school after graduation. He has participated in varsity sports, Beta Club, Key Club and various literary clubs.

Kierstein Johnson is graduating from Dougherty Comprehensive High School and said she plans to attend the University of Georgia. She will study political science. Her accomplishments include a 4-plus point GPA, Beta Club, Honor Roll (four years), cheerleading and performing arts.

Madelin Vasquez is graduating from Dougherty Comprehensive High School and said she plans to attend Georgia State University. She intends to pursue a career in graphic design. Her GPA is 4.0-plus.

Indian EV startup Zypp Electric secures backing to fund expansion to Southeast Asia
Indian startup Zypp Electric plans to use fresh investment from Japanese oil and energy conglomerate ENEOS to take its EV rental service into Southeast Asia early next year, TechCrunch has exclusively learned. Of those 15 markets, Zypp Electric plans to launch its pilot in at least one Southeast Asian market early next year, co-founder and CEO Akash Gupta told TechCrunch in an interview. The latest funding, which amounted to $15 million and is led by ENEOS, is part of Zypp Electric's Series C round, which Gupta projects will be between $35 million to $40 million and will be closed in six to eight weeks.
