Alabama Men’s Basketball advances to first-ever Final Four after defeating Clemson

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WHNT) — The Alabama Men’s Basketball team has made history by making the final four for the first time ever and securing a trip to Phoenix.

The Tide won the matchup against Clemson 89-82. For the Tide, players such as Forward Jarin Stevenson and Guard Rylan Griffen got things going in the first half which gave the Tide a 35-32 lead at halftime. Alabama turned things around at the end of the first half with a 22-6 run.

Alabama Guard Mark Sears (23 points) and Forward Jarin Stevenson (19 points) were the leading scorers during the matchup against the Tigers. The Tide also shot the ball at 47% from field goal range and 44% from the arc.

For the Tigers, Guard Joseph Girard III (19 points) and Forward Ian Schieffelin (18 points) led the Tigers during the matchup. The Tigers shot the ball at 48% from field goal range and 31% from deep.

Alabma’s Mark Sears was also named MVP of the Western Region. Grant Nelson and Rylan Griffen were also named to the All-Regional team.

Head Coach Nate Oats has led the Tide to their first Final Four in program history. The Tide was last in the Elite 8 during the 2004 season under Coach Mark Gottfried.

Alabama will now face UConn in the Final Four next Saturday in Phoenix, Arizona.
