The Akron Zoo is offering free admission this weekend in partnership with the Summit County Developmental Disabilities Board.

Zoo admission is free for all guests who wear orange Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

This is all part of Inclusion Days at the zoo as part of National Developmental Disabilities Awareness month in March.

“It’s been an honor to be able to host Inclusion Days here at the Akron Zoo for five years straight,” said Doug Piekarz, president & CEO at the Akron Zoo, in a statement. “We began our partnership with Summit DD weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020, and it’s a true testament to the dedication of our two organizations that we were able to offer our community the opportunity to enjoy Inclusion Days uninterrupted over the last five years.”

Orange is the official color of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.

Summit DD Superintendent Lisa Kamlowsky said the zoo has always shared their vision for a more inclusive county.

“Summit DD has worked for more than 50 years to build a community where every citizen is included,” Kamlowsky said.
