Aisha Tyler will be leaving The Talk after six years as a co-host.

On Thursday's episode of the CBS daytime talk show, the 46-year-old actress revealed the news to the studio audience while choking back tears, according to People. She will officially make her exit at the end of the show's current seventh season.

"I just realized I had to let something go," Aisha told the audience. "And it's been the hardest decision of my life because you guys are my family and I love being with you every day, you know that… Our friendships are so precious to me, and the thing I'm going to miss most is all of the time we get to spend together when we're not on camera."

The teary co-host explained that the reason behind this heartbreaking exit was due to a busy schedule. She works as a season regular on Criminal Minds, hosts The CW comedy show Whose Line Is It Anyway?, and voices on FX's animation show, Archer. She also recently directed her first film, Axis, and she explained how she wants to put her energy into directing for the rest of her life.

"I've always dreamt of this and I didn't know how it would go, but it was one of the best experiences of my life. I love directing," she added. "This is a really important time for female directors."
