TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Airbnb is cracking down on parties in Florida ahead of Memorial Day weekend.

The company is blocking certain one- and two-night reservations for entire home listings in Florida and other parts of the United States for Memorial Day weekend, according to a company spokesperson. The same restrictions will be in place for Fourth of July weekend.

The company will be using technology to also prevent high-risk bookings.

Over those two holiday weekends in 2023, Airbnb said it prevented 9,300 people from booking an entire home listing. About 500 of those were in Tampa, and about 2,000 were in Orlando.

The company said the top destinations for bookings in Florida this year have been Destin, Panama City Beach and Pensacola Beach.

Police in Tampa recently shut down a massive party at an Airbnb in South Tampa. Police said there were between 200 and 300 people at the party who were being loud.
