Affordable housing for seniors under construction in Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Construction has begun on an affordable housing community for local seniors.

The City of Mobile met with Alethia House and the Morrow Companies on Thursday morning to break ground on the $19.8 million Live Oak Trace community.

The community, to be built off Overlook Road, was announced in 2023 and will feature the following amenities, according to past reports:

  • A clubhouse

  • Computer center

  • Fitness room

  • Adaptable units designed for usability and accessibility

The site is “within minutes” of “commonly used businesses,” according to the release.

LOCATION:

Application information is now available for the community that will offer 56 new affordable housing units for residents 55 and older.
