UPDATE: AFD battles North Abilene bedroom house fire

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – The Abilene Fire Department (AFD) battled a North Abilene house fire Monday night between the Westwood Richland and Dyess areas of town.

In a press release late Monday night, AFD said fire crews were dispatched out to a house fire at around 8:40 p.m. Those firefighters arrived to heavy smoke and flames emitting from a bedroom window.

When AFD entered the home that bedroom was fully involved in flames. Firefighters contained the fire quickly and extinguished it. This fire caused “significant heat and smoke damage throughout the structure.”

Thankfully, nobody was home when AFD arrived and no injuries were reported. While a cause is being investigated, AFD estimated damages to be $10,000.

No further information has been released.
