Apr. 19—COLUMBUS — Advocates for Children has announced that Carla and The T-Birds won the karaoke competition at its fundraising event SING! held at The Commons on Saturday evening, April 13, 2024.

The group sang an impressive rendition of "Summer Nights" by John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.

The event raised just over $75,000 in support of Advocates for Children, which provides advocates for abused and neglected children.

In 2023, the organization served 498 of our community's most vulnerable children involved in the court system due to abuse and neglect. 48% of those children served were under 5 years old and 76% were under age 12 years.

Approximately 300 people enjoyed the sold-out event for the second year in a row, enjoying live performances of five groups performing karaoke.

The event. Sing! gives the organization the chance to raise awareness of the need for child advocates locally, while having a great time with friends and neighbors.

Organizers shared their thanks to the people and local businesses who came out to give and invest in a better future for our kids.

"We are proud to serve and couldn't do it without them," Elise Yoder, president of Advocates for Children's Board of Directors, said.

About Advocates for Children

Advocates for Children envisions a community in which every child who has experienced abuse or neglect is given the opportunity to thrive in a safe and loving home.

The GAL/CASA network is powered by people who believe that society has a fundamental obligation to ensure that every child victim has a compassionate adult who will fight to assure that child's safe passage through the child welfare system and into adulthood.

Advocates for Children provides either volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) or staff Guardian Ad Litems (GALs) who are appointed by the judge to represent the best interest of abused and neglected children throughout their involvement in court.

Advocates are trained and empowered to ensure that every child can thrive in the safe embrace of a loving home. This advocacy work can make a lifelong difference for an abused or neglected child.
