Advance Care Planning group visits provided by Beckley VAMC

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — Advance Care Planning group visits (ACP-GV) are being provided by the Beckley VA Medical Center.

Planned power outage to affect areas in Greenbrier and Monroe counties

This center is a Diffusion of Excellence Program that is in Beckley and spreading nationally. This program for Veterans will help increase understanding and a better result to advance care planning for both Veterans and their families and friends.

The program will be held on April 18, 2024 and May 16, 2024 from 12:30 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. in the Beckley VAMC Auditorium.

Although Advance Care Planning comes with heavy subjects, such as the end of life, it is not only about that. It mainly focuses on how Veterans explain their health preferences.

Themes discussed in this program will include:

  • What matters to you?

  • Health care wishes.

  • Power of attorney for medical decisions.

  • Living wills.

Benefits for attending this program include:

  • Making health care wishes known.

  • Decreasing the stress and anxiety when it is time to make those difficult decisions.

Meeting held in Fayette County discusses better access to broadband internet

This program will be in a group setting making it easier for Veterans to understand each other’s needs. If a Veteran or caregiver is interested in attending this program, contact the facility’s Advanced Care Planning Coordinator Brittany Henderson, MSW, LICSW at 304-207-7370 or brittany.henderson1@va.gov.
