ADU bill passes through the House

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — An accessory dwelling unit (ADU) is a smaller, separate living space on the same property as a main house, sometimes located above a garage or as a stand alone structure. A January poll done by Keating Research shows 78% of Coloradans support a state law to allow homeowners to add an ADU to properties with single family homes.

The Colorado House of Representatives passed House Bill 24-1152 in a bipartisan vote to legalize ADUs in order to address the housing crisis and protect rights for property owners in the state. The bill will now make its way through the Senate.
