These units will investigate and prosecute domestic violence cases and provide support for victims.

“Victims of abuse need and deserve justice for the crimes committed against them,” Alabama Governor Kay Ivey said. “I commend the work of these dedicated professionals for striving to make their communities safer by holding abusers accountable and by assisting victims.”

The Mobile County Commission received two grants that total $80,827 for protection, monitoring and training related to domestic violence cases in Mobile County.

The Elmore County Commission received two grants that total $152,477 “to support the 19th Circuit Domestic Violence Unit, which brings together prosecutors, victim service officers and law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute domestic violence cases in Autauga, Chilton and Elmore counties.”
