Adair County press release - April 22, 2024

Apr. 22—Rhett B. Wickett, 52, of New Virginia, was taken into custody 3:44 a.m. April 14, in the 3100 block of Henry A. Wallace Road on the charge of public intoxication.

According to an Adair County report, at approximately 3:40 a.m. deputies observed a Chevrolet Corvette with a dome light on in the east ditch. While deputies were walking to the Corvette, a man, later identified as Wickett, stood up from behind the open driver's door and looked at the deputy.

Deputies observed glass in the ditch and Wickett told deputies he drank alcoholic beverages four to five hours prior and he had wrecked the Corvette when he swerved to avoid a deer, approximately one hour prior to being located. The hood of the vehicle was not very warm according to deputies. An open beer can was observed in the back area of the Corvette.

Wickett smelled strongly of an intoxicating beverage, had impaired balance, slurred speech and watery eyes. Wickett was offered and refused to take a PBT twice and stated he was not intoxicated.

While being transported to the Adair County Jail, Wickett complained of broken ribs, having not made any previous mention of needing medical attention. Adair County EMS transported Wickett from the jail to the Adair County Memorial Hospital at his request. At the hospital, Wickett declined to be seen by medical staff and requested to go back to the jail.

Wickett was transported to the Adair County Jail where he was released from after posting $300 cash or surety bond.

Kristen N. Ladd, 39, of Greenfield, was taken into custody 10:43 p.m. April 16, on Kent and 4th streets in Greenfield on the charge of criminal mischief, fourth degree; three Parish of East Baton Rouge, Louisiana, warrants for the charges of failure to appear on the original charges of: public bribery and unauthorized use of motor vehicle; misrepresent during booking, underage DWI and reckless operation of vehicle and violation of protective order and two Adair County warrants for the charge of failure to appear on the original charges of driving while license denied or revoked and OWI, first offense.

According to a Greenfield Police report, at approximately 6:40 p.m. officers responded to the 200 block of SW 2nd Street for a fight in progress. A male at the residence told officers Ladd, who he found laying in the bed of his camper, broke out a window in the camper, got into an altercation with her daughter and then ran off from the residence.

Officers located Ladd, who smelled of an intoxicating beverage, in the 300 block of SW Jackson Street, hiding behind a residence.

According to Parish of East Baton Rouge, Louisiana, District Court documents, Ladd was to appear March 18 for arraignment on the original charges and did not.

According to Adair County District Court documents, Ladd was to appear Jan. 5 and Jan. 6 in court on the original charges and did not.

Ladd was transported to the Adair County Jail and held without bond on the Louisiana warrants, no bond on one Adair County warrant and $1,400 cash or surety on one Adair County warrant and the new charge.
