Adair County arrests - May 20, 2024

May 20—Jeremy L. Rushing, 48, of Des Moines, was taken into custody 1:21 p.m. May 13 in the 600 block of North Street in Adair on the charges of assault-fear of immediate contact and contempt — failure to follow substance abuse recommendation.

According to Adair Police reports, at approximately noon, the recovery center in Adair reported the escape of a patient. Staff reported Rushing, who was court ordered to be at the center for 30 days, had left the center at approximately 11 a.m. without completing his required time.

While looking for Rushing, officers spoke with individuals in the parking lot of the Budget Inn Motel, who said a man matching Rushing's description had knocked on the door of their room and asked for drugs. One person stated Rushing immediately put her in fear of immediate contact and then without permission, touched her with his hands during the conversation.

Officers spoke with the motel staff who stated Rushing had just checked into the motel and provided his room number. Officers knocked on the door of the room, which Rushing answered and then was taken into custody.

Rushing was transported to the Adair County Jail where he was released on his own recognizance on a promise to appear.

Cory A. E. Hall, 37, of Des Moines, was taken into custody 11:05 p.m. May 13 at mile marker 74 of Interstate 80 eastbound on the charge of driving while barred.

According to an Adair Police report, at approximately 10:40 p.m. a 2004 Chevrolet Impala was observed traveling 86 mph in a 70 mph zone. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, identified as Hall. Hall told officers his license was barred and the information was confirmed.

Hall was transported to the Adair County Jail where he was released from on his own recognizance on a promise to appear.

Mikele A. Neyte, 30, of Des Moines, was taken into custody 2:07 p.m. May 14 on a Clarke County warrant for the charge of failure to appear on the original charge of driving while license denied or revoked.

According to Clarke County District Court documents, Neyte was ordered to appear court April 21 on the original charge and did not.

Neyte was immediately transferred to the custody of the Clarke County Sheriff's Office.

Wendi N. Wright, 43, of Stuart, was taken into custody 10:53 p.m. May 14, at Interstate 80 and Highway 25 in Menlo on an Adair County warrant for the charge of violation of probation.

According to an Iowa Department of Correctional Services violation report, Wright was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance — methamphetamine, first offense in Adair County and sentenced March 18, 2023, to 365 days in jail, partially suspended with one year of probation.

Wright has violated the terms of her probation by failing to contact probation after her last incarceration for violating probation ended Jan. 5. On Jan. 19, correctional services was made aware Wright had missed an admissions appointment with Zion Behavioral Health and not been in contact with anyone at the facility.

Wright was considered absconded from probation.

Wright was transported to the Adair County Jail and held without bond.
