Actor Josh Brolin to lead panel of judges at SLO International Film Festival

Hollywood star Josh Brolin, who grew up in Paso Robles and is known for his work in films such as “Dune,” the “Avengers” series and “No Country For Old Men,” will lead a panel of judges at the 30th San Luis Obispo International Film Festival.

The Academy Award nominee will lead the the Narrative Feature Jury at this year’s festival, according to a news release.

This will not be Brolin’s first time attending the festival, having received the festival’s King Vidor Award for Excellence in Filmmaking in 2017, according to the release.

Brolin will work with Netflix production finance executive Christopher Tung, Geena Davis Bentonville Film Festival president Wendy Guerrero and director Nardeep Khurmi to choose the festival’s George Sidney Independent Film Competition narrative feature film winner, the release said.

The George Sidney Independent Film Competition will feature more than 57 films competing in categories such as narrative feature, narrative short, documentary feature, documentary short, student film, music video and animated film, the release said.

Brolin won’t be the only big name to attend this year, with “Camera star Beau Bridges attending the West Coast premiere of the film at this year’s festival.

The San Luis Obispo International Film Festival runs from Thursday, April 25, through Tuesday, April 30, with an encore presentation in Paso Robles and online May 1-5, according to the release.
