PRINCETON — Bounce houses, the aroma of grilling hotdogs and skilled lumberjacks were part of the festivities Friday when the new Ace Hardware celebrated its grand opening.

The new Ace Hardware along Stafford Drive opened its doors in December 2023, said Manager Emma Bailey. Grand opening festivities were held Friday so the public could enjoy the spring weather.

"We're grilling out all day," Bailey said. "We have inflatables. We are doing a bunch of giveaways inside, special buys, some deals we have going on. And then we have the lumberjack show starting at five o'clock today."

The grand opening encouraged area residents to see what the new store has to offer.

"We have what you would typically see in a hardware store," Bailey said. "We have all the electrical and plumbing, the nuts, the bolts, all those things. And then we have a bunch of outdoor living items, so we have the lawnmowers, the weed eaters, anything you would need for your lawn as well as for outdoor living. We have the tables, the grills, fire pits, Yetis, all that good stuff."

The store also stocks paint and related supplies as well as other offerings.

"We cut keys, we do car keys, anything you need," Bailey said.

The new store has been well received, she said.

"Great so far. We're really just starting to take off," Bailey said. "Warm weather brings more people out and this event is really to get the community to know who we are, know what we sell, what we're doing. We're more in town, in the community, so we want people to come here."

While the public was enjoying the attractions outside, customers were exploring the hardware store's aisles.

"I think it's great," said Barry Roland of Princeton. "It's really convenient. They have a really good variety of stuff."

Another customer said he liked how he could get help quickly.

"Well, it's great," Joe Yancy of Summers County said. "People are friendly, the products are great. You can't get to the door without somebody checking on you."
