CROWLEY, La. (KLFY) — An inmate at the Acadia Parish Jail has confessed to a crime committed in 2013, and attempted to harm himself in the facility, authorities said.

Dirk Daigle, 36, of Church Point, is charged with felony carnal knowldge of a juvenile and self-mutilation.

Detectives questioned him about a 2013 case for which a warrant had been issued for his arrest, to which he confessed, authorities said.

The self mutilation charge stems from Daigle trying to injure himself in the jail, which was captured on video, in an attempt to be moved to the medical tier, officials said.

Bond details were not released.
