Academic Notebook: April Student of the Month

Apr. 27—Mikariya Joseph Sunia was nominated for Student of the Month for April from John Marshall High School. She was nominated by Shelly Spallees Hansen of the Family and Consumer Sciences Department. According to her nomination, Mikariya is outstanding and succeeds in everything she does. The schoolwork she produces is excellent and she aspires to greatness.

She serves as secretary of the Family, Career, Community Leaders of America chapter at John Marshall. She is also a Neighborhood Ambassador for John Marshall with RNeighbors, Rochester Neighborhood Resource Center. She has been involved in other community service projects including JM's food and supply drive for Ronald McDonald House of Rochester.

She has competed in regional level Career Investigation and will represent JM and the local chapter at state competitions. She plans to study aerospace engineering in the future. She also plans to continue her participation in student organizations to further her love of helping others and expand her professional network.
