Could former 97.5 The Fanatic host Mike Missanelli be headed back to the sports chat station?

The Fanatic unveiled a new lineup on Friday that includes a move by Andrew Salaciunas to a morning slot and Bob Cooney switching to middays.

Although there has been a buzz about Missanelli’s return to Fanatic airwaves, the Bristol Borough native’s name was not penciled in for any slot on the revamped program lineup.

Missanelli, who had been a 15-year veteran of the station and previously worked at rival WIP, left 97.5 abruptly two years ago.

An employee at the Fanatic, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Missanelli's name has been swirling about the station, but management hasn't indicated any deal is imminent.

In 2022, Missanelli maintained he left during contract negotiations after it was learned The Fanatic had created “The Best Show Ever?”, featuring Tyrone Johnson, former Phillies pitcher Ricky Bottalico, Hunter Brody and Jen Scordo.

He accused Fanatic management of lying about the terms of his departure.

“At no point in time was I ever afforded a chance to give a farewell, nor did they offer any kind of a celebratory farewell to me. In fact, they didn’t even mention retirement to me,” Missanelli told former WIP host Angelo Cataldi last year.

Missanelli is part of JAKIB Media’s Eagles postgame show with former Eagles linebacker Seth Joyner, former Fanatic host Marc Farzetta, and also has hosted a podcast for BetRivers.
