Above-average warmth holds in Utah through the midweek

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Happy Tuesday, Utah! Today spells yet another beautiful outdoor weather type of day across the Beehive State.

The bottom line? A couple more days of above-average temperatures before an incoming cold front brings cooler temperatures and showers.

Partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies are expected in northern Utah, but they will be thinner mid to high-altitude clouds, which do not tend to rain. We’ll see decreasing cloud coverage as we move southward, with mostly sunny to clear skies in the forecast for central and southern Utah.

Daytime highs today are running about 10 degrees above seasonal averages. That means most will top out in the mid-70s, while higher elevations reach the mid to upper 60s and warm spots down south climb into the mid to upper 80s. The south has halted the warming trend, but it holds on a day longer in northern Utah where Salt Lake City could say hello to 80 degrees again on Wednesday.

By Thursday we see a more pronounced cool-off, but it will still be a couple of degrees above average, reaching the 60s. The declining temperatures are thanks to a cold front moving in which will start to shake things up and usher in more soggy weather Thursday into Friday.

There is a silver lining to incoming wet weather for allergy sufferers. We’ve had a prolonged period of high pollen counts over the last couple of weeks, but wet weather can help clean out the air and reset pollen levels to be a little more tolerable.

We’ll keep tracking the trajectory of the incoming storms and give you the latest developments. Until then enjoy the nice weather and stay up-to-date on the latest in our 4Warn Weather forecast both on-air and online, we are Good4Utah!
