Abilene staple; Gloria’s Grill announces closure after 27+ years

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – An Abilene staple, Gloria’s Grill, announced that it was time to ‘hang up their spatulas’ after 27-and-a-half years.

In a Facebook post, Gloria’s Grill expressed its gratitude to all who patronized the restaurant over the course of nearly three decades.

“We will be closing our doors with much gratitude and appreciation,” the post read. “With over two decades of serving the community, and others who have made far travels for a good ol’ mom and pop burger, we can not express enough gratitude towards every individual who contributed to making our family restaurant an iconic part of town history. We are very gracious for the connections that have been made with each and every one of you. “

Just one hour after the announcement was posted, hundreds reacted to the news with care and sadness to see the restaurant go. Many commented memories of delicious recipes and notable servers over the years, others expressed sorrows and well wishes. Most all agreed Gloria’s Grill cooked up the best burgers in Abilene.

McDonald’s on Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene to close for several months

Gloria’s Grill will close after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21. The restaurant is located at 228 Chestnut Street, catty corner from the Taylor County Courthouse.

“Thank you for being a part of our journey as we wish you nothing but the best in return,” added Gloria’s Grill.
